The declaration of cultural revolutionaries for 2009 is an open experiment created, stated and set forth by art-ecology-education.org. It is a “putting in words of what is already in the air.”

The intention is viral, that is, the more these ideas are being read, spoken out, thought and discussed, the more their energy will manifest in our world and in our society. It counts with the participation of everyone with whom it resonates with. This participation can be manifold – you can choose to pass it along to people you know, publish it on your own blog or website, discuss it with friends, or you can even create your own Cultural Revolutionaries actions and share it on the project’s website.
You can also get involved by translating it into your language. So far, the declaration is already available in english (below), deutsch, español, français, chinese, português de portugal, italiano, svenska, and euskera.

Some CR09 artwork/interventions

Eine gute Frage ist die nach dem “warum”. Unsere Besucherzahlen sind für ein special interest blog zwar gar nicht so schlecht, jedoch werden die Einnahmen nicht einmal ansatzweise dazu genügen, auch nur die Serverkosten zu decken und sich irgendwo im Cent-Bereich bewegen  – wenn überhaupt. Uns interessiert es viel mehr, wie gut die vielgelobten kontextbezogenen Anzeigen von Google und Co. wirklich sind und wie man in unserer medialen, digitalen Welt mit Werbung umgehen kann/muss.

Folgende Gedanken stehen im Zentrum:

• Ist es überhaupt möglich, auf einem Blog, das sich hauptsächlich mit Nachhaltigkeit, Natur und nichtkommerziellen Themen beschäftigt, ja sogar über De-Branding und Konsumkritik berichtet, sinnvolle, kontextbezogene Werbung zu schalten?
• Wie clever sind die Algorythmen der Anzeigendienstleister wirklich? (Die Befürchtung liegt ja nahe, dass z.B. beim “McDonald’s Post” etwas weiter unten Burgeranzeigen kommen könnten.)
• Wie wird Werbung im Internet heute wahrgenommen? Störfaktor Nr. 1?
• Oder gibt es ein Bewusstsein dafür, dass ohne Werbung viele, viele Open Source Projekte und Gratisdienste gar nicht erst möglich wären?
• Kann kontextbezogene Werbung vielleicht sogar helfen, tatsächlich neue, interessante Inhalte zu finden?

Ihr seid natürlich wie immer herzlich gerne zur Diskussion eingeladen! Wie seht ihr das?

Cookies

Wir verzichten bewusst auf die rel. neue Option des Schaltens von interessenbezogenen Anzeigen. Hierzu werden nämlich Cookies verwendet, die das Surfverhalten der Besucher protokollieren und das geht uns aus datenschutzrechtlichen Gründen dann doch ein wenig zu weit. Google weiss eh schon genug über uns. Die Problematik von behavioral targeting, wie der Werber von heute dazu sagt, wird hier gut erklärt.

Feeds

Darüberhinaus haben wir die Feeds von Auszug auf Volltext umgestellt. D.h. die Abonennten müssen theoretisch nur noch zum Kommentieren die Seite besuchen. Es gibt zwar jetzt auch Werbung in den Feeds, allerdings nur in Form eines einzelnen, kleinen Anzeigenblocks am Ende des Feeds. Der Wunsch dazu wurde ja auch ganz abgesehen von AdSense schon länger geäußert, stimmts Reto? ;)

AdBlocker

Ja, es gibt eine Möglichkeit die Werbung abzuschalten. Falls die sog. AdBlocker noch unbekannt sein sollten: das sind kleine Plugins, die sich meistens mit ein paar wenigen Klicks im Browser installieren lassen. Fortan wird die oftmals lästige Werbung ausgefiltert. Das funktioniert sogar sehr gut und läuft absolut automatisch. Einen ausgezeichneten AdBlocker für Firefox gibt es hier: AdBlock Plus. Wer auf OS X mit Safari unterwegs ist, wird hier fündig. AdBlocker sind im übrigen nicht nur für bekennende Werbehasser interessant, sondern können auch für eine flüssigere Surferfahrung sorgen, falls man an einer langsamen Leitung oder einem älteren Rechner sitzt. Gerade großformatige Flash-Werbung frisst ja gerne mal Bandbreite und/oder Ressourcen.
